2025 Harvest report: a state of balance

The 2025 growing season followed several climatic extremes. Roughly 50 sub-zero days between leaf fall and budding gave the vines a pronounced winter rest. Annual rainfall of 600–700 mm was close to the local average and approximately half the exceptional 2024 total. Moisture retained from 2024 helped replenish reserves depleted during 2021–2023, sustaining exposed and higher vineyards.

After flowering, temperatures climbed rapidly and remained above 30 °C by late spring. Moist soil and stored water supported regular growth while accelerating phenological development. Veraison occurred between 15 and 22 July, among the earliest timings of recent years.

From 4 to 20 August, maximum temperatures remained above 30 °C and frequently reached around 35 °C. Early varieties entered harvest in mid-August; later grapes, including Barbera, followed in early September. Bad weather arrived between late August and the first weeks of September. Growers removed leaves only on the less sun-exposed side to preserve airflow without scorching bunches, then performed vineyard selection and meticulous sorting at reception.

Red grapes produced wines with strong colour, varietally faithful aromas, persistence, balance and drinkability. Whites showed clearly defined aromas and balanced savouriness. The vintage was interpreted as a renewed equilibrium between climate, soil, vine growth and informed human work.
