Sarmassa: Virna’s Barolo of the Heart

Sarmassa is presented as the historic cru at the emotional centre of Virna’s work. The south-facing vineyard is protected from winds and has compact soil; Virna’s grandfather called it “l’Africa” because of its warmth. More than 40 years of family experience have accumulated there through gestures passed between generations, discussions held among the rows and bottles taken into the vineyard when production choices needed reconsideration.
