Vineyard and terroir

Aleatico comes from vineyards dedicated exclusively to A at Fattoria Aldobrandesca. The estate lies near Sovana in inland southern Maremma, within the Etruscan Tuff zone. Its vineyards stand below the tuff spur on which Sovana was built. The terrain is flat and volcanic in origin, with tuffaceous subsoils.

Grapes

Aleatico, an aromatic and historic Tuscan variety cultivated since Etruscan times.

Vinification

The 2025 grapes were destemmed and gently crushed on arrival at the cellar. The must remained in contact with the skins during a cold maceration lasting approximately 4–6 hours, extracting color and delicate aromatic compounds while preserving freshness. Alcoholic fermentation followed in stainless-steel vats at 16 °C.

Ageing

The wine rested in stainless steel until bottling.

Technical data

Toscana Rosato IGT. Latest published vintage: 2025.

Tasting profile

The 2025 is a bright, pale coral-pink. Its intense nose combines dog rose with white peach, pink grapefruit, raspberry and lychee. The palate is refined and balanced, with pronounced freshness and savoriness. The fruit returns through a long, intense and elegant finish.

Vintage notes

The generally cool 2025 season began with a rainy, cold winter that delayed vineyard pruning. Mild, dry spring weather supported regular vine growth and successful budbreak, flowering and fruit set. Summer was warm and Mediterranean, while August rain lowered temperatures and created marked day-to-night variation, helping the grapes complete ripening and develop their aromatic character. Harvest took place in several passes during the first week of September.

Label / history

A was conceived as a high-quality rosé expression of Aleatico and the estate’s volcanic soils. Its single-letter name unites the initial of Aldobrandesca with that of Aleatico, expressing the sought-after balance between variety and place.
