Vineyard and terroir
Le Castelle is the smallest of Antoniolo’s three single vineyards, covering 1.3 ha. The vines average 40 years of age. Its volcanic soils are deeper and richer than those of the estate’s other sites, contributing greater power and depth to the wine.
Vinification
Spontaneous fermentation takes place in a cement tank, with 18 days of maceration.
Ageing
The wine matures for 24 months, mainly in used barriques, followed by one year in 25 hl Slavonian or French oak casks. It then rests for at least another year in bottle in the winery’s cellars before release.
Label / history
Production is very limited, and each bottle is individually numbered.
