Vineyard and terroir
The organic Glera grapes grow in vineyards in Veneto, where a moderate climate is shaped by mountains that shelter the area from harsh winds and by cooling sea breezes. Winters are cold but not severe, while the breezes temper the hot summers. Plentiful summer rainfall provides moisture during ripening. The soils are mainly marl and sandstone, limestone and clay, contributing saline and mineral notes. Organic vineyard management is intended to preserve the balance between the soil, climate and vines, with minimal intervention in natural processes.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested entirely by hand in mid-September, with only the healthiest, ripest fruit selected. They are gently pressed, and the must ferments in temperature-controlled steel tanks. Secondary fermentation follows the Italian Charmat method in sealed autoclaves at 14 °C. The wine is then cold-stabilized, filtered and bottled with a minimal addition of sulfites. Organic practices and minimal intervention are also followed in the cellar.
Tasting profile
The wine is lively, with an expressive aroma and pleasant saline and mineral notes.
