Vineyard and terroir
The grapes grow in Veneto, where the vineyards are protected from cold winds and experience a mild climate influenced by the Adriatic Sea. The mineral-rich alluvial soils comprise sand, gravel, clay and limestone.
Grapes
Manzoni Moscato is a cross between Raboso Piave and Muscat from Hamburg. Professor Luigi Manzoni, director of the School of Oenology in Conegliano, developed it through selective breeding in the early twentieth century.
Vinification
Harvest usually begins in early September, when the grapes have reached the required ripeness and sugar levels. They are destemmed and gently pressed, followed by cold maceration at 5 °C for 12–16 hours to extract colour and bright aromas. After the juice is separated from the skins, the must ferments in stainless-steel tanks with selected yeasts. Secondary fermentation takes place by the Martinotti method at a controlled temperature of 14–15 °C. The wine is then cold-stabilised, filtered and bottled.
Tasting profile
Refined, with bright aromas.
