How long does white wine last in the bottle, opened or unopened?
Sealed white wines evolve rather than having a fixed expiry date. Fresh stainless-steel whites are generally intended for consumption within one to three years, while structured, high-acid examples may develop for three to five years or longer. Bottles should be kept horizontally at 10–15°C, away from light, vibration and temperature fluctuation.
Once opened, oxidation becomes the principal concern. A tightly resealed bottle kept upright in the refrigerator generally remains sound for three or four days. Changes in color, cloudiness, suspended particles, vinegar-like or stale aromas, flat acidity and bitter or acetous flavors indicate deterioration.
Molin Lugana DOC Superiore is presented as capable of evolving for at least five years when correctly stored, owing to its structure and balanced acidity.
