Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes are grown in the winery's vineyards in Veneto.
Vinification
Harvest is usually by hand, in the last ten days of September and the first ten days of October. After destemming, the grapes undergo low-temperature maceration in chilled pneumatic presses, to extract antioxidant compounds from the skins. The must is fermented at a controlled temperature.
Ageing
The wine is transferred to large oval oak casks for a further 6–7 months of ageing.
Tasting profile
Well balanced.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 8–10 °C in summer and at 12–14 °C in autumn and winter.
Label / history
Cantina Produttori Cormons was founded in 1962 as a consortium by eleven people representing grape growers and wine producers in northeastern Italy. They wanted to protect their vision for the wine industry, which they held should not be shaped by changing fashions. The members introduced a comprehensive set of winemaking rules to ensure consistently high quality. The text notes that the Conegliano-Valdobbiadene area received official state recognition and DOC status in 1969. Today the consortium is a private organization representing public interests and includes most of the region's producers across all categories. It oversees production from planting the vines to making the wine, works with research institutes, and introduces new methods for growers and winemakers to improve quality while complying strictly with environmental standards.
