Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes come from vineyards surrounding Villa da Vinci, in the countryside where Leonardo grew up. The land on which the grapes are now grown was seabed four million years ago, and ancient fossils can still be found between the vine rows.
Grapes
The Sangiovese grapes are selected for this wine.
Vinification
The Sangiovese is harvested in late September. The wine macerates on the skins for 12 days and ferments at 28 °C, with frequent pumping over.
Ageing
After a long period in stainless-steel tanks, the wine spends two to four months in oak barriques.
Tasting profile
The wine is concentrated, ripe and elegant, with a harmonious aroma.
Serving and pairing
Decant for one hour before serving.
Label / history
The wine takes its name from one of the historic names of land owned by Leonardo’s family. Its label reproduces a detail from The Annunciation, a painting inspired by the rolling landscape of Vinci. The 2017 vintage received a silver medal at the 2018 Mundus Vini competition.
