Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The Sangiovese Grosso comes from younger vineyards adjoining the sites devoted to Rosso di Montalcino DOC and Brunello di Montalcino DOCG. The vines stand at 240–360 metres above sea level on medium-textured soils containing galestro and dating to the Eocene.
Grapes
Predominantly Sangiovese, complemented by Syrah, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Exact proportions are not specified.
Vinification
Fermentation takes place in stainless-steel vessels at a controlled temperature, regulated through cooling jackets.
Ageing
The wine matures in concrete tanks.
Tasting profile
Ruby red. The aromatic profile is fruit-led, with a faint herbaceous character and a light spicy note. Ready to drink, it is full-bodied and warm, with moderate softness and a balanced finish. The blend gives the wine enough structure while retaining an approachable, everyday style.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 18°C. Its versatility suits service throughout a meal, particularly with first and main courses based on red meat, cured meats and fresh cheeses. Store bottles horizontally in a cool, dark place without fluctuations in temperature.
Vintage notes
The vintages presented are 2015 through 2025. The 2016 vintage received 87/100; approximately 50,000 bottles were released in March 2019. Its review describes a smooth palate with wild-cherry and dried-raspberry aromas, followed by restrained smoke and spice, and recommends pairing it with cinghiale in umido.
Label / history
Each bottle carries an anti-counterfeiting hologram on the capsule.
