Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The Lambrusco grapes are grown in Emilia.
Vinification
The grapes are crushed immediately on arrival at the winery. The must is chilled at once and transferred to temperature-controlled tanks. The wine is produced by the Charmat method, then bottled at very low temperatures using airtight equipment to preserve its freshness, bright aroma and rich flavour. The process also allows the grapes’ distinctive character to become more pronounced over time.
Tasting profile
Light and pearly, with a distinctive, bright aroma, rich flavour and notable freshness.
Label / history
Emilia takes its name from an ancient road that linked Rome with northern Italy many centuries ago.
Cleto Chiarli founded the company in 1860 after managing Trattoria dell'Artigliere in central Modena, where he made Lambrusco for regular guests. The favourable reception encouraged him to produce it for wider sale. Winemaking continued through successive generations of the Chiarli family.
The family owns more than 90 ha of vineyards in the Lambrusco DOC production area. In 2002, Mauro and Anselmo Chiarli decided to build a winery at the Azienda Agricola Castelvetro estate. The facility began producing Lambrusco under the new “Cleto Chiarli” brand in 2003.
