Vineyard and terroir
The grapes are grown near Modena in Emilia-Romagna.
Vinification
Whole bunches are pressed very gently before temperature-controlled fermentation. The second fermentation takes place at low temperatures in sealed tanks. Production is carried out at the winery in Castelvetro.
Label / history
Cleto Chiarli founded the company in 1860 after managing Trattoria dell’Artigliere in central Modena, where he made Lambrusco for the restaurant’s regular customers. Its reception encouraged him to begin producing wine for wider sale. In 2002, Mauro and Anselmo Chiarli decided to build a new winery at Azienda Agricola Castelvetro; since 2003, it has produced wines under the “Cleto Chiarli” brand.
