Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The vineyards lie in the lowlands of the Tirso Valley. The soils are rich in limestone mixed with clay and pebbles. The estate is in the village of San Salvatore, near the ancient Phoenician city of Tharros, in a Mediterranean microclimate.
Grapes
Made from grapes unique to Sardinia: Nieddera, Caddiu and other red varieties. The text gives no proportions.
Vinification
After harvest the grapes are pressed and macerate on their skins for 8–10 days. Fermentation follows at a carefully controlled temperature, and the wine is then gently pressed again. The estate states that all its wines are natural, with no added sulfites.
Ageing
The wine matures for 10–12 months in small and medium-sized oak barrels, followed by at least 6 months of ageing in bottle.
Tasting profile
Very elegant, with a complex, well-balanced taste.
Label / history
The Contini winery was founded in 1898 by Salvatore Contini and is now run by his son, Attilio Contini.
