Contratto’s cathedral cellars receive UNESCO recognition

Contratto’s cathedral cellars joined Canelli’s other historic underground wine galleries within a UNESCO World Heritage Site in June 2014. The application had been prepared over several years. Former owner Carlo Bocchino handled the required documentation, while the Rivetti family received the final inspections after acquiring the property.

The recognition placed particular emphasis on stewardship. Contratto committed to preserving the underground complex and maintaining public access, keeping the winery open for visits seven days a week, including national holidays.
