The Rivetti family acquires Contratto

After several years in which Giorgio Rivetti consulted on sparkling-wine quality, La Spinetta and the Rivetti family formally acquired Contratto in June 2011. Their interest centered on the property’s long sparkling-wine history, its underground cathedral cellars and its manual classic-method expertise.

The new direction retained traditional riddling and bottle fermentation while immediately adding vineyards. The intended result was greater control over Pinot Nero and Chardonnay quality, a renewed Contratto identity and a stronger position in Alta Langa.
