Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The Vermentino comes from Tenuta di Monterufoli at Monteverdi Marittimo in the province of Pisa, in the inland Maremma. The gently rolling hills have silty-clay soils with a substantial limestone component, a structure reflected in the wine’s pronounced mineral character.
Grapes
Vermentino.
Vinification
The grapes are picked by hand around the first ten days of September. They receive several hours of gentle skin contact in the absence of oxygen, followed by soft pressing. The must is cold-settled statically for 48 hours, then fermented in stainless-steel tanks at 15°C.
Ageing
After alcoholic fermentation, the wine remains in stainless steel for approximately three months.
Tasting profile
Finely drawn fruit and floral aromas are complemented by mineral notes. The palate is soft and broad, finishing fresh and savoury. The style combines aromatic expression with the mineral character associated with Monterufoli’s limestone-bearing soils.
Serving and pairing
Serve at around 10°C. Suitable as an aperitif and with fish dishes or medium-aged cheeses.
Label / history
Pian di Seta was developed as an elegant, mineral yet aromatic interpretation of Vermentino from inland Maremma, shaped through research, innovation and investment in the estate’s Vermentino vineyards.
