Vineyard and terroir
The grapes come from Canale in Roero. The vines are 10–25 years old, face south and southwest, and grow in sandy-loamy soil. The vineyards are Guyot-trained and managed according to sustainable-viticulture practices, with a stated yield of 9,000 kg/ha. The wine is intended to express the sandy soils of Roero and the youthful side of southern Piedmont’s UNESCO landscape.
Grapes
100% Arneis. Paolo Giacosa is the winemaker for the 2025 vintage.
Vinification
The bunches are harvested entirely by hand and sorted manually on a vibrating table. They are cooled with carbonic snow to limit oxidation and substantially reduce sulphur use, then gently pressed. Screw conveyors are excluded from the process so that the grapes are handled as delicately as possible.
Part of the must is chilled and held in an inert nitrogen atmosphere for 12–15 hours at 8–10°C for cryomaceration. Fermentation follows in stainless-steel vats at a controlled temperature.
Ageing
The wine sees no oak and is refined exclusively in bottle for approximately three months before release.
Technical data
Vintage 2025; alcohol 12.50% vol.; yield 9,000 kg/ha. The style is youthful, dry and medium-bodied, without oak influence.
Tasting profile
Pale yellow with golden highlights. The fragrant nose combines apple, pear, camomile and tropical fruit with a fresh mineral character and varietal Arneis aromas. The palate is fresh, dry, delicate and harmonious, with smooth texture, medium body, pleasant fruit and a mineral finish. Aromas and flavours remain closely aligned.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 8–10°C. Pair with rice, pasta dressed with light sauces, fish or white meats, or pour as an aperitif. Cellaring potential is 2–3 years.
Vintage notes
The 2025 growing season was marked by balanced climatic conditions. A rainy spring established good water reserves, while a warm, well-ventilated summer encouraged steady, even ripening. Harvest conditions were favourable and picking began slightly earlier than average. Across the estate, harvest ran from August 18, beginning with Alta Langa, to October 2, ending with Nebbiolo for Barolo.
