Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from two high-elevation vineyards selected for their sandy terroir: the Tanone cru in Vezza d'Alba, with soft sandy soils, and the Renesio-Incisa cru in Canale. Arneis grows on the hills of Roero alongside Nebbiolo.
Grapes
According to local tradition, Arneis was first developed at Renesio, where it appeared in the late 15th century. It was originally called “White Nebbiolo” because its bunches and berries resemble those of Nebbiolo.
Tasting profile
Fresh and inviting, the wine gradually reveals strength. The sandy soils bring out aromatic intensity, elegance and complexity.
Label / history
The wine is dedicated to Francesco Monchiero’s grandfather, who was known as “Cecu d'la Biunda”—“Cecu, the blonde woman’s son.” Remembered as a gentle and kind man, he appreciated Arneis long before it became known outside the region. Monchiero Carbone has produced a collection of Arneis wines since 2004. The 2022 vintage received Gambero Rosso’s “3 Glasses,” awarded to only ten white wines from Piedmont.
