Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes come from carefully selected plots around Roseto degli Abruzzi, on the Adriatic coast of Abruzzo. The vineyards face west and southwest and stand on limestone-clay soils. Together with the influence of the sea, these conditions help the grapes develop fresh, aromatic qualities.
Vinification
The harvested grapes are gently crushed and destemmed, then pressed. The must ferments in stainless steel tanks at 12 °C to preserve its distinctive fruit notes. The wine is clarified and filtered before bottling.
Tasting profile
Elegant and lively, with a balanced character. The nose is delicate, with fruit and floral aromas.
Label / history
Fantini produces the "Gran Sasso" range in Abruzzo. It is named after the Gran Sasso mountain range, the highest part of the Apennines. The range is made from Abruzzo's most widely grown varieties: the white Trebbiano d'Abruzzo and Pecorino, and the red Montepulciano and Sangiovese. The grapes are grown in the Farneto Valley and other important sites across the region, and are carefully selected. Vinification takes place at Fantini's own winery in Roseto degli Abruzzi. The wines were created for young wine enthusiasts who already have some tasting experience but are not yet ready to buy Italy's most expensive wines.
