Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from several Fontanafredda vineyards in Monteu Roero, Vezza d’Alba and Montà d’Alba.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested into 20 kg baskets in the second half of September. Half are destemmed and crushed, then cold-macerated for 24 hours at 10 °C before gentle pressing and fermentation. The remaining half is pressed immediately after harvest; only the first-press juice, known as the “flower”, is used. This juice is gently separated from the skins and fermented at low temperature in stainless-steel tanks. The two resulting musts are then blended.
Ageing
The blended wine rests for 4–5 months in neutral vessels, followed by two months in bottle.
Label / history
Pradalupo belongs to Fontanafredda’s core “The Stripes” range, distinguished by striped labels and created to present a broad selection of wines from Piedmont. The range consists mainly of single-varietal wines sourced from specific municipalities or individual vineyards.
