Vineyard and terroir

The fruit comes from Campo Rotaliano, in the mountain valleys of northern Trentino. The estate's vineyards cover more than 80 hectares of gravel soils. The Noce River flowed through the area for many centuries and left rich deposits of limestone and granite. Winds from the surrounding mountains cool Campo Rotaliano, creating a microclimate that is warm but never hot and extends the ripening and harvest season.

When Elisabetta Foradori took over the estate after her father's sudden death, almost all the vineyards were planted with Teroldego vines that gave excessively high yields and lacked the qualities needed for excellent wine. She addressed this through careful selection and by growing only the best clones. She combined clonal selection with vineyard pruning, replanting of old vines to make the most of the terroir, and sharply reduced yields.

Tasting profile

The aroma is precise and lively, with dark woodland berries and subtle floral and spicy notes. The palate is juicy, well balanced and clearly structured, with bright acidity and fine tannins. The fruit stays focused and vibrant. The style is elegant, juicy and clearly defined, fresh and pure, and approachable. The text describes Teroldego from Rotaliano as having a velvety texture, subtle spice and lively acidity.

Vintage notes

The text describes the 2024 vintage as a distinctive yet approachable red that reflects both the Teroldego grape and its Trentino origins. It gives no weather details.

Label / history

This is described as the estate's entry-level cuvée, a good place to start exploring its wines. Elisabetta Foradori took over the estate about 20 years before the text was written. The text credits her with bringing Teroldego wines to international attention after local varieties, Teroldego included, almost disappeared in Trentino when international grapes became popular. The text also notes that Teroldego is genetically related to Syrah.
