Vineyard and terroir
The production area is Suvereto in Livorno, Tuscany. The vineyards lie at 100 m above sea level on soils composed of clay, sand and silt. Planting density is 6,000 vines per hectare, trained to Guyot.
Grapes
100% Vermentino.
Vinification
The grapes undergo cold pre-fermentation maceration, followed by alcoholic fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks.
Ageing
The wine remains in stainless-steel tanks for nine months with periodic bâtonnage, followed by at least nine months in bottle before release.
Tasting profile
Bright straw yellow. The varied bouquet combines yellow flowers with peach and citrus. Rich and complex on the palate, with good savouriness, freshness and a long finish.
Serving and pairing
Suitable as an aperitif and recommended with oysters, shellfish and baked fish.
Label / history
The first vintage under this wine identity was 2021, although Gualdo del Re has produced Vermentino since the 1980s.
