Recycling corks: a mother at work
Sara describes balancing the demands of running a winery with raising four children, particularly during the busy season when working days can exceed ten hours. Corks from bottles opened in the tasting room are collected rather than discarded. Most go to the Accipicchia cooperative in Alba, which turns them into key rings.
The remaining corks become material for family craft projects. Their natural impermeability, thermal inertia, softness, strength and lightness make them suitable for trivets, coasters, mats, place-card holders, Christmas decorations, children's printing blocks and noticeboards. The practical examples turn an everyday cellar by-product into reusable material while creating time for shared activities with the children.
