Vineyard and terroir

The vineyard is situated at 250 m above sea level in Carso Triestino. Its red soil and limestone provide excellent drainage. Planting density is 5,500 vines per hectare, with yields of 1 kg per vine. The winery has spent 20 years exploring the relationship between this native terroir and the variety’s character.

Ageing

After fermentation, the wine spends 12 months in old French oak barrels, followed by six months in stainless-steel tanks.

Tasting profile

Saline, spicy and aromatic, with savoury notes of the sea and smoke balanced by floral tones. Edi Kante regards Malvasia as the only variety through which he has been able to express the taste of the sea and iodine.
