Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes are grown at Tenuta La Garzaia in the Le Sondraie area, on the northern edge of the Bolgheri appellation. The vineyards lie at 10 m above sea level on soils containing abundant clay and limestone with small percentages of silt.
Grapes
The 2025 blend is 71% Fiano and 29% Viognier. Fiano contributes freshness, acidity, structure, salinity and mineral character, while Viognier brings ripe-fruit and floral aromas together with roundness and softness.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand, cooled and gently pressed as whole bunches. Fermentation takes place partly in stainless steel and partly in 16 hL ceramic amphorae.
Ageing
The wine remains on its fine lees for six months. Regular bâtonnage develops body and roundness.
Technical data
Vintage: 2025. Alcohol: 13%.
Tasting profile
Straw yellow with greenish reflections. White flowers, peach and apricot lead the aroma, complemented by citrus and herbal nuances. The palate is enveloping yet fresh, with good minerality and an elegant, persistent finish. Fiano’s freshness and mineral character balance Viognier’s sweetness and softness.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 8–10 °C.
Vintage notes
A humid, rainy spring required sustained agronomic care to protect vineyard health. July and August were particularly hot, with temperatures exceeding 40 °C. Viognier was harvested on 19 August, followed by Fiano over the next few days.
Label / history
The wine was conceived entirely by winemaker Olga Fusari. Its name evokes Bolgheri and refers to a nesting place for herons.
