Vineyard and terroir
The grapes grow in vineyards near the Adriatic Sea, in Italy’s mild Mediterranean climate. The soils contain clay and limestone and are rich in trace elements. Planting density is 4,000 vines per hectare.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested in mid-September. After 12 hours of pre-fermentation cold maceration, the berries are gently pressed. The must then ferments slowly in temperature-controlled tanks.
Ageing
The wine matures in stainless-steel tanks for several months.
Label / history
Tenuta Maccan was established in 2012. Its 23-hectare estate is in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, on soils rich in dolomitic limestone, clay and pebbles.
