Discovering the origins of Losito e Guarini
Davide Guarini traced the enterprise to the Losito family’s wine activity in 1910 and to the union of the Lombard and Puglian family branches in the 1960s. He and Renato entered management in the early 1990s: Davide in sales and Renato in production and quality control, after exchanging the roles their parents had originally envisaged for them.
Davide described sparkling wine as an important future category and explained his attachment to the Luigi Guarini project conceived by his father. Although the idea initially lacked support, the brothers realised it in 2013. They also revived bottle drawings made by their grandfather Michele, including the family coat of arms, commissioning a glass mould after several trials.
The interview closes with the traditional Broni legend associated with Sangue di Giuda: Judas arrives while disease is destroying the vines, offers himself in response to a prophecy, and subsequently discovers the vineyards restored and heavy with ripe fruit. The resulting wine is named Sangue di Giuda.
