Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from vineyards on small hills and plains in Puglia, where the climate is warm. The named vineyard plots are bordered by olive trees, stone walls or other natural features. Fruit from different vineyards is combined to provide complexity, structure, aromatic breadth and depth of flavour.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand at optimal ripeness, usually in mid-September. They undergo 10 days of maceration at a controlled temperature, followed by fermentation in temperature-controlled tanks with selected yeasts. The wine is made close to its source vineyards, then blended and bottled at Li Veli.
Ageing
The wine matures in oak barrels for three months.
Tasting profile
The wine has complexity and structure, with a broad range of aromas and depth of flavour.
Label / history
The Falvo family, owners of Li Veli, launched Contrade as an independent brand in 2015. Its name derives from the Latin word “contrade,” meaning “plot of land,” and refers to named vineyards defined by natural boundaries. The label carries a redesigned graphic inspired by a window in the Basilica di Santa Croce in Lecce.
