Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes are grown in a warm climate on small hills and plains in Salento. Fruit from multiple vineyards is blended to provide complexity, structure, aromatic breadth and depth of flavour. The wine is made close to the vineyards.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand at optimal ripeness, usually in mid-September. Maceration lasts 10 days at a controlled temperature, followed by fermentation in temperature-controlled tanks with selected yeasts. The wine is blended and bottled at Li Veli.
Ageing
The wine matures in oak barrels for three months.
Tasting profile
It has a broad range of characteristic aromas and flavours, with complexity, structure and depth.
Label / history
The Falvo family, owners of Li Veli, launched the independent Contrade brand in 2015. The name comes from the Latin word for “plot of land” and refers to named vineyards bounded by olive trees, stone walls or other natural features. The label uses a redesigned image of a window from Lecce’s Basilica di Santa Croce. The range comprises Contrade Primitivo, Contrade Negroamaro and Contrade Malvasia-Chardonnay.
