Oria Day 2026: masterclass with Roberto Cipresso and vineyard dinner in Montalcino
Oria Day 2026 was scheduled for Saturday, 5 September as a programme devoted to wine, grape ripeness, viticulture and Tuscan traditions. Activities were divided between the Roberto Cipresso winery in Montalcino and the Tenuta di Oria in the Val d’Orcia.
Morning programme
The morning session was due to begin at 10:00 at the Roberto Cipresso winery, Località Bivio dell’Asso 1, Montalcino. Roberto Cipresso’s masterclass, “Interpretare l’uva,” was designed to explain how grape maturity can be read before harvest. The planned analysis covered skins, pulp and seeds; grape colour and structure; tannins and aromas; stem ripeness; and the berry’s resistance when separated from its pedicel. Together, these observations were to be used to assess the appropriate moment for harvesting.
A presentation and tasting of Monastero 2024 was scheduled for 12:00. At 12:45, Martín Iglesias was to oversee the official activation of MyOria, the management platform created for Oria members. The morning session was due to finish at 13:00, followed by free time for lunch and rest.
Evening at the Tenuta di Oria
The estate programme was due to begin at 19:00, using the entrance from San Quirico. It included a walk through the historic vineyard, a visit to the new clonal vineyard and a demonstration of grafting vines onto American rootstock.
The cultural and dining programme comprised a live demonstration of traditional Tuscan pici preparation, grilled vegetables and chicken, music, coffee and desserts. Guests were also to see the sunset over Montalcino and the cypress trees associated with the film Gladiator. A tasting of Oria balsamic vinegar in the estate’s acetaia was included before the scheduled conclusion at midnight.
Participation
The complete day was offered free of charge to Oria members. Non-members could attend the morning masterclass for €40 per person or combine the masterclass and estate dinner for €70. No dinner-only option was announced. Advance registration was mandatory for both the morning session and the complete programme.
