Vineyard and terroir
The wine comes from Sicily. The island's volcanic soils and maritime climate create a distinctive terroir that gives its wines an individual style and characteristic mineral tones.
Vinification
Traditional winemaking methods are used to bring out these qualities. The text gives no further detail.
Tasting profile
Refreshing and elegant, with a distinctly Mediterranean character. Delicate floral and mineral notes recall sunlit vineyards at the foot of an ancient volcano.
Label / history
Albinelli is a name with roots in medieval Emilia-Romagna. It is also the name of Modena's best-known market, where Italian merchants have traded since the Middle Ages. They sold wine, vinegar, cheese and cured meats by land and sea to other regions and nearby countries. They brought spirits, oil and wines back to Emilia-Romagna. One member of the large family always travelled with the goods to oversee transport and choose what to send back to Modena in exchange.
Wine became the merchants' great passion. Unlike many other Italian families they did not buy vineyards. They travelled through Italy's regions, selected quality wines and brought them back to sell in Emilia-Romagna. This approach inspired Perlino to create the "Albinelli" collection, which brings together well-known Italian wine regions, grape varieties and styles central to the country's winemaking tradition.
