Label / history
The word "vermouth" comes from the German "wermut", meaning "wormwood". Turin is traditionally considered the birthplace of vermouth, and Hippocrates is credited with creating its recipe. In the 17th century Alessio, a native of Piedmont, introduced vermouth to the King of Bavaria, who was very impressed, and the drink soon became a favourite at his court. In 1786 Antonio Benedetto Carpano established the first large-scale vermouth production in Turin.
