Label / history
The word "vermouth" comes from the German "wermut", meaning "wormwood". Turin is traditionally considered the birthplace of vermouth, and Hippocrates is regarded as the creator of its recipe. In the 17th century Alessio, a native of Piedmont, introduced vermouth to the King of Bavaria, who was greatly impressed, and the drink soon found a place at his court. In 1786 the first large-scale vermouth production was established in Turin under Antonio Benedetto Carpano.
