Vineyard and terroir
The vines face south and south-west and grow in clay-loam soil containing rock fragments. Planting density ranges from 3,200 to 5,000 vines per hectare, and the training system is the overturned Tuscan cordon.
Grapes
The blend comprises 90% Sangiovese, supplemented by Mammolo and other native red varieties.
Vinification
Harvest runs from mid-September through the first week of October. The grapes are mechanically picked and selected, then softly pressed. Maceration lasts three weeks on the skins, with pumping over the cap. Native yeasts drive alcoholic fermentation in vitrified cement tanks, where malolactic fermentation also takes place.
Ageing
The wine remains in vitrified cement tanks. It is intended to show its best qualities during the first years of life.
Tasting profile
Ruby red in colour, with lively red-fruit aromas and floral nuances. The palate is soft and fresh, with intensity and a persistent finish. Its style is straightforward and easy-drinking.
