Vineyard and terroir
The Sauvignon Blanc grapes are grown in Sicily.
Vinification
Chief winemaker Peppe Randazzo and his team travelled through Italy's wine regions, learning from local farmers and exploring traditional approaches to winemaking, and then applied that knowledge on a larger production scale. Every stage of vinification was designed to reveal and preserve the potential of the grapes and terroir. The text gives no details of vessels, yeasts or timings.
Label / history
Astrale is a range created in 2011 on the idea of wine without borders, reflecting the distinctive character of Italy's different terroirs and introducing some of the country's best-known wine regions. Each wine follows four principles: the best possible quality regardless of geographical origin, preservation of the terroir's essence, traditions dating back to Roman times, and an expression of Italian winemaking style through approachable characteristics.
The name refers to the constellations, which for centuries helped sailors and farmers make daily decisions. It combines historical truth with mythology, recalling a distant past when everyday life was believed to depend on the will of the gods and the stars. For this reason the label of every wine in the range shows a symbolic night sky.
