Label / history
The name Castello del Monte refers to Emperor Frederick II’s castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Cantina Puianello was founded in 1938 by five winemaking families to produce the traditional wines of Emilia-Romagna. As new members joined, its vineyards expanded to 300 ha, 80% of them on mountain slopes. Following a merger with Coviolo in 2005, the cooperative comprised 398 members and 436 ha of vineyards. The winery and its equipment underwent major renovation in 2012.
