Vineyard and terroir
The estate’s vineyards lie at 300–450 m above sea level on stony soils. Of its 180 ha, 100 ha are planted with vines.
Vinification
The grapes undergo approximately 20 days of maceration at 24–28 °C.
Ageing
The wine ages for one year in barriques, followed by 18 months in bottle.
Label / history
The first bottle was released after Francesco Spadafora joined a friend for the autumn harvest in France, where he gained his first experience working with Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine subsequently became part of the “Schietto” range, whose wines are each made from a single grape variety.
The estate’s history began in the 1960s, when Duke Pietro Spadafora, a descendant of an old aristocratic family, inherited it. His son, winemaker Francesco Spadafora, later expanded the vineyard area significantly.
