Vineyard and terroir

The wine comes from plots in Collemezzano, approximately 10 km north of Bibbona. The estate joined Tenuta di Biserno in 2019, although international grape varieties had already been planted there in the early 1990s.

The vineyards lie at 80–120 m above sea level, facing south-west and toward the sea. Their clay-sandy soils are rich in minerals and contain abundant skeletal material composed of small alluvial pebbles, providing excellent drainage.

Grapes

Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The proportions vary depending on the vintage.

Vinification

Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless-steel vats, followed by 3–4 weeks of skin-contact maceration.

Ageing

The wine matures for 12–16 months in French oak barriques, a proportion of which are new, followed by at least 12 months of bottle ageing.

Technical data

Toscana IGT Rosso. Recommended serving temperature: 16–18°C. Ageing potential: more than 15 years.

Tasting profile

Deep ruby red with violet reflections. The complex bouquet combines red fruit and graphite with sweet spices, balsamic tones and mineral nuances. The palate is structured and enveloping, with velvety tannins and a long finish. Restrained power is balanced by finesse, while a distinctive saline note marks the finish.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 16–18°C. It pairs with rich meat dishes, game, braised meats, rack of lamb and aged cheeses, and can also be enjoyed on its own as a meditation wine.

Label / history

Collemezzano Di Biserno was conceived as an expression of the character of its namesake estate, emphasizing precision, depth, elegance and fidelity to the land.
