Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from Poggetti at Massa Marittima. The vineyard has a south-western exposure and rich, slightly acidic clay soil. Yield is 9,500 kg/ha. The Poggetti Estate occupies hills in the northern Tuscan Maremma, approximately 7 km from the Tyrrhenian Sea. Hot weather and long sunlight exposure are moderated by cool evenings, while the coastal position contributes salinity and minerality.
Grapes
90% Vermentino and 10% Viognier.
Vinification
Viognier is picked in the final week of August and Vermentino in the second week of September. The must is clarified by static cold settling and then fermented at 18°C for approximately 21 days.
Ageing
After the first racking, the wine remains on its lees until 15 days before bottling.
Tasting profile
Straw white in colour, with a fresh wet-stone aroma. The palate is crisp, elegant and lean yet powerful, driven by pronounced minerality and ending with a clean, refreshing finish.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 14°C. Suitable with herb-roasted chicken, other white meats and fried seafood, including calamari.
