Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from the Serpara vineyard, nicknamed the “snake’s nest,” which has an unusually sunny, mild climate. Harvest takes place from the final days of October into early November.
Vinification
The grapes are processed immediately after harvest. Vinification includes low-temperature maceration followed by alcoholic and malolactic fermentation.
Ageing
The wine matures for 12–24 months in wooden barriques.
Label / history
Terre degli Svevi was founded in 1998 in the province of Potenza, Basilicata. The winery’s name means “Land of the Svevi.” Its approximately 120-hectare estate has fertile black soil mixed with lava from the extinct Monte Vulture volcano.
