Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The Merlot vineyards are in Veneto, where mixed sandy and limestone soils and daily temperature swings contribute rich aromas and higher acidity to the grapes. The estate has 25 hectares of vineyards extending along both sides of the historic Claudia Augusta road. Its soils are mainly clay and rich in mineral salts, while the nearby Piave River influences wines produced from fruit grown along its banks.
Vinification
Maceration and fermentation take place in stainless-steel tanks, with daily pump-overs. After resting in steel tanks, the wine is filtered three times before bottling.
Label / history
The name 47 Anno Domini refers to 47 AD, the year Emperor Claudius completed the Claudia Augusta, an important Roman road that passes through the winery and between its vineyards.
