Vineyard and terroir
The Pinot Grigio is grown using biodynamic methods in the provinces of Treviso and Venice. The company has 25 hectares of vineyards on both sides of the historic Claudia Augusta road, a few kilometres from the Adriatic coast and close to Treviso’s historic centre. The fertile soils are predominantly clay and rich in mineral salts. The nearby Piave River gives a distinctive character to wines from grapes grown along its banks.
Vinification
After harvest, the grapes are immediately separated from their skins. The must is oxygenated and clarified by static settling, then undergoes alcoholic fermentation in steel tanks. The wine is filtered and decanted before bottling.
Tasting profile
The nose and palate combine exotic fruit with delicate white flowers. The taste is elegant and lingering.
Label / history
The name 47 Anno Domini refers to 47 AD, the year in which Emperor Claudius completed the Claudia Augusta, an important Roman road that facilitated communication across the empire. The road now runs through the winery, with its vineyards extending on both sides.
