Grapes
The blend comprises Corvina (45–90%), Corvinone (up to 50%) and Rondinella (5–30%), with small proportions of Oseleta and Molinara.
Vinification
Maceration and fermentation take place at a controlled temperature of 20–22 °C, with daily pump-overs for 4–8 days depending on the vintage. Malolactic fermentation and decanting follow. In January after the harvest, the wine undergoes a second fermentation on skins remaining from the production of Amarone della Valpolicella.
Ageing
The wine matures in barrels for at least one year.
Tasting profile
Garnet in colour, the wine is elegant and well balanced.
Label / history
The name 47 Anno Domini refers to AD 47, when Emperor Claudius completed the Claudia Augusta, an important Roman road. The company’s 25 ha of vineyards lie on both sides of the historic road, which passes through the winery.
