Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The vineyards are in Salento, in southern Italy, where the climate is dry and hot, moderated by refreshing sea breezes. The soils are reddish from iron mixed with limestone and clay.
Vinification
Primitivo ripens early and can begin to dry out, losing acidity and aromatic freshness, if harvest is delayed by only a few days. The grapes are therefore monitored carefully and picked at optimal ripeness. Fermentation and maceration take place at a controlled temperature of 24–28 °C.
Ageing
The wine matures in American oak barrels for at least 12 months.
Tasting profile
Elegant, with a fruity aroma and a soft, well-balanced palate marked by spicy notes.
Label / history
The name “12 e Mezzo” means “twelve and a half” in Italian and refers directly to the wine’s alcohol level. The relatively young range comprises four wines: Malvasia del Salento, Rosato, Primitivo and Negroamaro.
