Vineyard and terroir
The Primitivo grapes are grown in Salento, in the province of Taranto.
Vinification
Maceration takes place at a controlled temperature of 24–28 °C, followed by malolactic fermentation.
Ageing
The wine ages in American oak barriques for at least 3–6 months, then continues to age in bottle.
Tasting profile
Elegant, with an intense, inviting aroma of plum, cherry jam, cocoa and spices. The palate is velvety, rich and expressive.

"12 e Mezzo" means "Twelve and a Half". The collection reflects Varvaglione's philosophy of growing traditional local Puglian grape varieties and turning them into wines by modern winemaking methods. The range has 8 wines, all at 12.5% alcohol.
