Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The wine comes from carefully selected grapes grown in the estate vineyards surrounding Castello di Velona. The property is situated in the south-western sector of the Montalcino wine-production area, where it is exposed to maritime air currents and protected by the hills above.
Five hectares of vines are divided among six parcels with distinct characteristics and orientations: Le Logge, Poggetto, Vigna del Castello, Campo della Fame, Vignone and Gradoni. The medium-textured clay soil contains a substantial skeletal component. The estate combines respect for nature and local tradition with modern viticultural techniques focused on quality.
Grapes
100% Sangiovese.
Harvest
The estate follows the natural seasonal cycle, with the grape harvest taking place in September. The grapes used for this Brunello are carefully selected from the estate vineyards.
Ageing
The wine undergoes a long period of maturation according to tradition. This extended rest develops its combination of power and elegance and allows it to continue evolving over time.
Tasting profile
Power and elegance define the published stylistic description. With maturation, the wine is intended to express the character of Sangiovese and the Montalcino terroir with increasing clarity.
Serving and pairing
The wine is served in the estate’s restaurants and cellar and is also incorporated into OLISPA experiences. Production takes place entirely on the property, and tasting and purchasing are reserved for guests of Castello di Velona.
