Beaucastel’s 2024 flagship red named James Suckling’s best wine of 2026
The Châteauneuf-du-Pape wine received 99/100 after the American critic tasted thousands of wines worldwide during 2026.

On 2 November 2026, American critic James Suckling named Beaucastel’s flagship red from the 2024 vintage his best wine in the world for 2026. Scored 99/100, it was selected from the thousands of wines he tasted around the world during the year.1
Recognition for Beaucastel and Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Suckling said his association with Beaucastel began in 1985 and noted the lasting impression made by the estate, its winery, the Perrin family and its wines. Charles Perrin said the recognition highlighted the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation and affirmed the choices of earlier generations to make the natural ecosystem central to the estate’s work and its expression of terroir.1
A long-established approach to farming
Beaucastel lies in the northern part of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation, between Orange and Avignon, and traces its history to the 16th century. Known for wines intended to combine precision with longevity, the estate has cultivated its vines organically since 1950 and biodynamically since 1970. It grows all 13 grape varieties authorized by the appellation together.1
