EU approves rosé wines under the Chianti DOP specification
An amendment published in the Official Journal of the European Union adds rosé to the wine styles covered by Chianti DOP and revises rules on grape composition, subzones and ageing.

A notice published in the Official Journal of the European Union on 30 October set out the approval of an ordinary amendment to the Chianti DOP production specification, according to Fondazione Qualivita. The principal change adds rosé wine to the styles covered by the denomination.1
The revised specification permits compliant rosé wines to be produced and labelled under the Chianti name. Fondazione Qualivita said the amendment followed requests from the Consorzio del Chianti, which represents producers in the denomination.1
The amendment also changes provisions concerning grape composition, subzones and ageing requirements.1
