Small and mid-sized Argentine wineries increased online wine sales by 19.49% in 2025

An industry study presented on October 30 in Mendoza found that their direct online volume grew while sales by large wineries and the sector’s total volume declined.

Small and mid-sized Argentine wineries increased their direct online wine sales volume by 19.49% in 2025, while large producers recorded a 10.49% decline. The results come from the third annual industry study, presented on October 30 at the IDITS building in the Polo TIC technology hub in Godoy Cruz, Mendoza.1

The study was released by the Observatorio Vitivinícola Argentino, the Argentine Wine Corporation (COVIAR), the Argentine Chamber of Electronic Commerce (CACE) and e-commerce agency Combinatoria. Across all wineries, online sales fell 3.21% from 2024 to 230,280 six-bottle cases. The number of online orders declined 9.52% to 114,454: orders at large wineries dropped 18.14%, while those at small and mid-sized producers rose 17.14%.1

A limited sales channel

Of 462 wineries identified as potential e-commerce sellers, 185 had an online shopping cart in 2025 and 62 actively received orders, equivalent to 13.3% of the potential group. Direct winery sales contributed 0.41 percentage points to online wine’s 1.72% share of total Argentine wine sales; marketplaces contributed 0.99 points and online wine shops 0.32 points.1

Winery online revenue reached ARS 14.984 billion, up 25% from 2024 but below Argentina’s 31.5% annual inflation rate. In US dollars, domestic online sales totaled US$11.33 million, down 4.27%. The 7 largest wineries increased revenue by 8.5% in pesos, compared with 71.31% growth for small and mid-sized wineries.1

Order values and commercial costs

The average direct online order was ARS 156,295, up 24.62%, and contained 12.07 bottles at an average price of ARS 12,949 per bottle. Logistics represented 16.21% of the final price including taxes, with wineries covering that cost in 93.86% of transactions. The average reduction from the suggested retail price to the invoiced price was 29%.1
