NAWR opens registration for 2027 Wine Retailer Summit in Washington
The National Association of Wine Retailers will bring independent wine merchants and industry specialists together in Washington, D.C., on April 27–28, 2027, for two days of discussion about regulation, interstate shipping, tariffs, logistics and changing consumer demand.
Registration has opened for the National Association of Wine Retailers’ 2027 Wine Retailer Summit, scheduled for April 27–28 at the Washington Marriott Marquis in Washington, D.C. The two-day conference, now entering its 11th annual edition, will be limited to 100 attendees.1
The summit is intended for independent fine-wine businesses and related specialists from across the United States, including physical retailers, online merchants, auction houses, lawyers and logistics operators. Its program will examine the principal commercial, legal and operational pressures facing wine retailers.1
Regulation, shipping and the market
The agenda covers modernization of alcohol regulation, litigation over direct-to-consumer wine shipping, trade tariffs, supply-chain adaptation and changes in consumers’ drinking patterns. NAWR executive director Tom Wark said independent retailers are operating amid regulatory and economic volatility and that the meeting will focus on interstate commerce disputes, market access and business strategy.1
Panels, keynote sessions and expert briefings will address constitutional litigation concerning interstate wine shipments, federal trade policy and tariffs, revisions to state regulation and the economic outlook for independent fine-wine merchants. A dedicated session on retailer direct shipping will consider legislative initiatives and court cases involving the dormant Commerce Clause that affect access to interstate markets.1
Technology, logistics and summit dinner
Technology and logistics sessions will discuss practices for obtaining inventory, complying with e-commerce rules and fulfilling direct-to-consumer orders. The program also includes the annual summit dinner on Tuesday evening, April 27, when participants are expected to share rare bottles and meet other members of the trade.1
NAWR president Dave Parker, who is also chief executive of Benchmark Wine Group, said the attendance cap is designed to create candid discussion among business principals and other key decision-makers. WeShip Express, a direct-to-consumer logistics company, is the platinum sponsor of the 2027 summit and leads the wider group of event sponsors.1
